A nice family walk accessible to all. The path is located along the floor of the south side of the Valley and follows the right bank of the Arve river. Away from the traffic of the main road, easy and relaxing, this is the ideal walk to Chamonix.
From the SNCF train station in Les Houches, join the Coupeau road and cross
the bridge over the railway. Follow the Eaux Rousses path on the right until you
enter the woods. Carry straight on along the path in the direction of Chamonix.
The forest trail then follows the Arve river to Les Bossons, below the Vouillouds
gully, crosses the grove and carries on to Les Gaillands following the particularly
picturesque Promenade à l’Anglais (climbing site, lakes, refreshment chalet...).
Carry on past the climbing cliff along the Pècles road, to the left, which will lead
you right into the centre of Chamonix via the Lionel Terray roundabout.
Return by the same route 2 h, or by train.
This walk can be shortened by starting from the bridges in Les Bossons, Piralotaz or the Montquarts footbridge.
