The piste "La Verte" in Les
Houches is green only in name. It is in fact a black run with a
vertical descent of 870m over 3343m in length. The best downhill
skiers in the world speed down it in 2 minutes flat.
A series of extremely technical passages and two enormous jumps,
"La Cassure" and "Le Goulet", make this ski
run one of the most beautiful in the world.
For the last 60 years Les Houches has hosted the men's downhill
and slalom World Cup events, as well as World Cup Telemark. The
Arlberg-Kandahar run is one of the most testing events on the world
cup circuit: descent, slalom and combined.
On the 10th & 11th January 2004, "La Verte"
will once again be the setting for these world cup events:
